Add a Fare Cap

The Add Fare Cap page allows you to configure a fare cap. When a fare cap is configured on this page and applied on the Policy Options and Exclusions page, any fare in the response that exceeds the applicable fare cap is marked as out-of-policy.

To add a fare cap, select an air policy on the Air Policies page and select the Fare Caps option on the left-hand navigation to access the Fare Caps page. In the Fare Caps section, click the add fare cap link to open the Add Fare Cap page.

Note: As detailed at the end of this topic, to use fare caps, on the Policy Options and Exclusions page, you must also select either or both the checkboxes Mark as in policy all fares on preferred airlines that are equal to or less than the fare cap for the location or Mark as in policy all fares on non-preferred airlines that are equal to or less than the fare cap for the location.

The following table lists guidelines for completing this page.

If the fare cap is to appear for more than one location but not worldwide, create a separate setting for each location.

  • Worldwide: Default setting.
  • Global Area: Click to select from dropdown list of IATA Areas 1, 2 or 3.
  • Continent Group: Click to select general continental areas such as North and South America, Europe and Middle East, and so on.
  • Region: Click to select specific continents and areas.
  • Country: Click to select a country from dropdown list.
  • State/province: Click to select a state/province from dropdown list.

Note that fare caps are applied from a more specific granular geography to a more general geography, e.g., first by airport, then by state/province, then moving through country, region, continent group, and global area last. A worldwide configuration is applied only where a more specific geography has not been specified.
